Instagram expanding their sales platform to include "creators". |

This is interesting and something to keep an eye on. I wonder what types of products they accept from creators? Is it like Etsy where you can sell POD tees and mugs? If so, will any of the POD sites integrate with them? Also, this could be a good opportunity for someone to create a "how to" guide for an IM product.
Quote:Today, we’re announcing new Commerce Eligibility Requirements that expand access to Instagram Shopping to more types of businesses, including creators, so they can connect with shoppers and sell their merchandise on Instagram.

The Enduring Enigma of Costco's $1.50 Hot Dog and Soda Combo
Mental Floss Jake Rossen
The price hasn't changed in nearly 35 years. What kind of
sorcery is this?
Excerpt:
When Costco president W. Craig Jelinek once complained to
Costco co-founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal that their
monolithic warehouse business was losing money on their
famously cheap $1.50 hot dog and soda package, Sinegal
listened, nodded, and then did his best to make his take on the
situation perfectly clear.
"If you raise [the price of] the effing hot dog, I will kill
you," Sinegal said. "Figure it out."
~ ~ ~
The articles goes on to explain how Costco set in stone "value, good will, foot traffic," as well as how Cosco survived changing times.
The takeaway:
Create an online membership product wherein the price never increases and will create virtual foot traffic aka access to related products? Me thinks so.

Do you have any tips for being more organized? |

I seem so unorganized. Do you have any tips for keeping everything organized for your business? My top tip is I use One note. I used to use Ever note but I think Onenote is better and it is cheaper. Ever note used to be a lot better but they forgot what they were about.

The (real) Secret |

Here's a real potent "secret" for building a business online. But like learning to play an old blues song, it's simple but it isn't easy.
And the secret is...building a small team of like-minded people with the sole purpose of promoting the others.
Back in about 2002 there was a group of about 4-5 pretty well known IMers. They all lived in the same city and they'd meet in a little room and talk about how they could promote the other person. They understood that if I said "I'm the greatest" it wouldn't be nearly as effective as someone else saying "Kurt's the greatest".
They would promote each other without affiliate links and say things like, "These aren't affiliate links".
There's other benefits like 5 people can get email subscribers 5 times faster and quickly multiply their reach.
That's pretty simple, but it isn't easy. Here's the hard part: - You probably need to find people of the same experience level.
- Everyone has to be an asset to the others. Finding people that truly understand what a team is all about is difficult.
- Each person has to have the same amount of time to dedicate. Some people have jobs and their idea of working on a project is a few hours on the weekend. Others will do IM full time and willing to spend 16 hours a day for a couple of months to get things going.
- It's amazing how often someone gets "sick" about the same time they are supposed to gte soemthing done so they couldn't do their part.
- Everyone needs to have similar ethics.
- Everyone needs to have the same general opinions about quality.

What's your big idea for the World? |

My big idea is water. Places like the California and Texas deserts are actually very fertile, get a lot of sun and have long growing seasons. They just don't have water.
Desalination is now only 2X what reservoir water costs, but there's a limited amount of reservoir water and unlimited ocean water. I don't have a clue how much it would cost to transport the water but the Romans did it a couple of thousand years ago.
These desert areas have immense solar potential for cheap energy and the land is really cheap so this would offset some of the costs of desalination and transporting the water.
Throughout human history we have settled in the easiest places for life to survive. We now have the technology to live where it's a little harder to survive and we have less impact and let nature reclaim some of the other areas.
