Sometimes the Lemnaceae are included among the Araceae. A third family, the Acoraceae, was included under the older Cronquist system
but does not appear closely related to the others. The Arales are the sister group of the Alismatales
, and are sometimes included among them.
This order includes the largest inflorescence, the titan arum, and the smallest flowering plant and smallest fruit, found in the duckweed, Wolffia.\n
