Standing out...
#1
In marketing I like to be different. It's as much from personal preferences than any marketing benefit. I just get bored with the same thing over and over.

The domain name Pheeds.com is an example. Pretty much all the other IM related sites have some kind of keywords in their domain names. Pheeds is weird and stands out.

I also use cows. I'm tired of all the images of good looking guys, with hot chicks, leaning against a sports car holding a hand full of $100 bills.

Cows are different. I like them and hopefully they're good for branding.

In a year or two I hope people ask, "what's the name of that cow site"?

I also try to use a lot of "pattern interrupts", which are things that seem a little out of place and break patterns psychologically so they attract more attention.

Here's some examples, along with the html for the GIFs...If you want to share this forum you can use these...but only if you want to be cool. Smile

This a little story about this one...Popeye cartoons are in the Public Domain. So I went through some Popeye cartoons and pulled some backgrounds out of them. The background from this animation is from a Popeye cartoon.

Most excellent. You have a 5 Star Talent for images and marketing.

I am an amateur at best with images and was thinking about using the images on cell phones like the iPhone. Would the recommended size be 300px width or 480px width?

Thanks for the images!

Added later:
They look awesome on both an iPhone and an android at 480px.
