Free voices for videos - thorton - 06-14-2020

This is a free site that takes text and makes a voice over. I just tried it some and it works pretty well for computer voices. What do you think of using computer voices for your videos?

Thanks for the link. I need to check that out.

I've put some thought into this over the years. My first reaction when I see a Youtube video with a computer voice is the video is low quality and probably a little spammy.

On the other hand, I know plenty of people that write English very well but are concerned about their English speaking. Having these artificial voices seems to level the playing field for them somewhat.

Personally, I'd rather type a script that speak it but I'll still record my voice in the future because I think listeners like it better.

Computer-generated voice over is improving but I think it still has a ways to go myself.

I do use it on occasion though.

I need to add that I'm pretty sure using TTS in videos makes it almost impossible to get monetized on Youtube. And if I had to guess I'd say that if this is correct then TTS probably hurts YouTube and Google ranking as well. There are other reasons to upload videos to Youtube but these are two pretty important reasons.
