How To Make More Money Using Adsense

This is a free chapter from my King of Content 2.

The goal with this strategy is to optimize content for Adsense and NOT Google search ranking, to make as much per click as possible. There's a difference between ranking and Adsense. With Adsense, Google is trying to figure out what a page is about, not to rank that page.

If one page you have gets 6 cents per click from Adsense and another gets $1.20, the first page needs to get 20 times the traffic to earn the same as the second page. People complain about low paying clicks, but they don't do anything to increase the value of these clicks.

Since our goal here isn't to optimize for Google ranking but rather for Adsense clicks, we'll need to get traffic in other ways, like social media, influencers, links, expired domains, YouTube and Reddit, etc.

Just because we're optimizing for Adsense and not Google ranking doesn't mean we can't or won't rank in Google. It just means we focus more on keyword value when selecting keywords and optimizing our pages for those keywords. Typically, higher paying keywords have strong SEO competition so it's often best to find other traffic methods.

You may have read about Adsense keywords that pay $100 a click and more. Maybe in theory.

The reality is, those bids are the highest ever recorded for the keywords and are what Google charges advertisers for ads shown on Google. Adsense ads hosted on web masters’ sites will very likely get far less per click.

Also, we shouldn’t assume each webmaster gets paid the same from Google, because they don’t. If you want to get paid $20 for a “mesothelioma” click, you’re going to have to earn Google’s trust first.

Another likely factor in how much Adsense pays is how diverse your traffic is. If all your traffic comes from a single source, expect clicks to pay less. If your traffic comes from many different sources then it becomes more likely you'll earn more per click.

More likely is that those $100 clicks will actually result in you getting paid $2-$4, more or less.

However, this doesn’t mean we can't do some things to increase the value of our Adsense Clicks.

The first step is to do a little research for the highest paid clicks:

Also, LSI Keywords is a free site that shows you the highest paying keywords based on root keywords:
https://lsikeywords.com/

With LSI Keywords, enter a few main keywords, then sort by the highest paying and use these keywords to create your content.

Remember, you won’t get the amount shown per click. However, these are keywords that will pay you the most per click. Don’t worry to much about search volume, you won’t be depending on search engine optimization for traffic. But you will want to make sure there is some interest in the keywords.

Next, create a page with great info about one of the keywords. Let me repeat the GREAT INFO part. You want to create a web page with the best information possible. Take your time. The content is your product. Tell the good and tell the bad. The better the info you give, the more ways you can promote this page.

You must have a page that will pass a manual inspection from Google, as it may get a look if it makes money and is one of the higher paying keywords. Make sure it will pass a human inspection from Google and they will find the page to be very informative.

Optimize the page HEAVILY for that keyword. This is important: Again, you are NOT optimizing the page to rank in Google. Instead, you are optimizing the page for Adsense so the most profitable ads will be displayed on your web page.

Use the main keyword (no long tails) in the typical SEO places, like file name, page title, meta tags, header tags, anchor text, etc. Also repeat it in the content a few extra times, but don’t over-do it.

Also add a few LSI related keywords to the text. Find the highest paying keywords related to your main keyword.

Did you know that when Google bought the technology for LSI they didn’t do so for their search results? The main reason Google really wanted LSI was to determine what a page was about so they could target Adsense ads as well as possible. It’s up to you to help Google display the most profitable ads.

Remember, you are NOT optimizing this page for Google ranking, it will be too difficult to do for the most profitable keywords. Instead, you are optimizing it for ADSENSE. You want Google to display the highest pay per click possible.

Start with a Adsense ad block that only uses one link. This will typically be the highest paying click. Generally, the more links you have, the less some of them will pay. But test one link against multiple links after you start getting traffic.

Place the Adsense ad block after your second paragraph and center it. Also try placing a second single link ad block right above your last paragraph.

Since you only have one page, test the ad placement. You may even just want a single ad block, but test to see which gives you the best click throughs/most money.

Test using a header and no header.

Try adding an affiliate banner at the top and bottom. This does two things: 1. Makes Google think the pages isn’t just made for Adsense.

2. Banners can and do divert your visitor’s attention away and to other parts of the page. Use what’s known as “banner blindness” to your advantage by diverting their attention away from the top/left of the page and to your Adsense block.

Use “anchors” for anchor text. Anchors are pointers included in the html of a web page that allow visitors to click on a link and be taken to a different location on the same page. For an example of an anchor, see the Back to Top link at the bottom of this page. Instead of using the text "Back to Top" use a high paying keyword and have it link to a part of the page that uses the same high paying keyword.

Use your main keyword in the “anchor” code. A good example of anchor links is Wikipedia. Just about every Wikipedia page links to more content on the same page. These are anchor links. Also, use the main keyword in your anchor text that links to the anchor. This will help your Adsense optimization.

Locate the anchor in a place right above your Adsense block, so if people do click the anchor link, they’ll end up right above your Adsense block.

Google still loves anchor text. The problem with anchor text is that many webmasters use the links to send people away from the page. Instead, set an anchor on your own page, so you are in effect linking to your own page. This will help increase the relevancy of the page so you have the best chance of getting the highest pay per click possible.

You may want more “camouflage” on your Adsense page, just in case Google does visit. Simply create an optin form for an email list. It doesn’t even have to be real or work. Google isn’t going to sign up for your list.

Of course, you can always use a real email form, it’s up to you. Just be sure it doesn’t make your page more narrow, you want to keep it wide to make it harder to read and more likely someone will click on Adsense.

This page is your “product”. Create a few of these pages. Then spend your time and effort getting traffic to these pages using social media, Yahoo Answers, Quora, Youtube, press releases, document sharing sites, etc.

You can add retargeting pixels which allow you to advertise over and over to the people that visit your page.

Also, you can often create a "seed" article around a high paying keyword like "motorcycle insurance" then create additional versions for other high paying keywords. For example:

motorcycle insurance in Texas
Colorado motorcycle insurance

Then add a couple of paragraphs of customized content for each version. This gives you more promotion opportunities. Don't worry about "duplicate content", we're not getting traffic from Google.

Adsense can be very lucrative for the right keywords, and it’s probably the easiest way to monetize pages. You just have to do a little research, planning and thinking, then send traffic.
