The Zingiberales are an order of monocots, including familiar plants like bananas and ginger. They are also called the Cannales. There are eight different families:

  • Zingiberaceae (e.g. ginger, cardamom, turmeric, zingiber mioga)
  • Musaceae (e.g. banana)
  • Strelitziaceae
  • Lowiaceae
  • Heliconaceae
  • Costaceae
  • Cannaceae (e.g. canna)
  • Merantaceae (e.g. arrowroot)
