UE

The UE in UMTS (3G) mobile telephone systems is the name given to the User Equipment. This roughly corresponds to the Mobile Terminal (MT) in GSM systems.

The UE can be, for example, a handheld phone. Alternatively it can be another device such as a card in a laptop computer.

The UE connects to the Base Station or "Node B" as specified in the 25-series of specifications.
