Smoking cessation is an umbrella term for the effort to stop smoking addictive tobacco products.

Effective techniques include:

  • "Cold turkey": stopping by force of will
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (includes transdermal patches and nicotine gum)
  • The antidepressant Zyban (also sold as Wellbutrin)
