1943 Steel Penny

A 1943 Steel Penny is a penny issued by the United States government, in 1943, which is manufactured from zinc-plated steel, rather than copper. These pennies were produced, during World War II, so as to save 10,000,000 pounds of copper for the production of ammunition and other war-time equipment.
